Baker & McKenzie has hired its third tax partner in just over a year, aimed at strengthening the firm's corporate tax capabilities.
John Walker joined Bakers' tax practice in Sydney last month from Deutsche Bank, where he was in a senior internal tax advisory role. He brings with him particular corporate tax experience with financial products. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Walker worked at Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Walker's appointment follows that of GST specialist Gina Lazanas from PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Baker & McKenzie's managing partner David Nathan described the hire as "strategic". The tax practice now has five partners and eight associates.
