Bakers on year's second-largest share placement

Baker & McKenzie has advised China's largest alumina producer Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) on its HK$4.67bn H-share placement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the second-largest share placement in Hong Kong in 2006.
Securities partner Cheuk-Yan Leung led the Bakers team on the placement, which comprised six billion new H Shares issued by Chalco and 44.1 million Sale H Shares sold by The National Social Security Fund Council.
Hua Lixia led the Haiwen & Partners team acting as PRC counsel to Chalco, while a Linklaters team led by Hong Kong-based partner Dean Lockhart advised joint underwriters CICC, CLSA and JPMorgan.
