The ALB In-house Legal Summit road show went from strength to strength in February, when the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi played host to the latest meeting of in-house minds.
Following on from the success of last October's ALB In-house Legal Summit in Mumbai, the two-day ALB New Delhi Summit - held on 10 and 11 February - attracted some 102 attendees, including 88 in-house delegates, and incorporated four cutting-edge workshops presented by some of India's leading firms.
Day One of the Summit commenced with a plenary session presented by senior advocate and president of the Bar Association of India Fali Nariman, in which he discussed how in-house counsel in India must learn to fit their compliance function with the strategic business plans of their respective companies.
Following Nariman's words of wisdom was the first workshop of the day on M&A activity presented by Indian firm Mulla and Mulla, which later reported no fewer than 25 separate delegate presentation requests. Advani & Co presented the afternoon workshop, which discussed the relevance and importance of international arbitration to India and the region as a whole.
Delegates were treated to workshops by Titus & Co - on the management of relationships with firms that are outsourced work - and Kachwaha & Partners - on how to avoid the pitfalls in complex litigation - on Day Two of the Summit, which also offered attendees the chance to network through gourmet lunches and gala dinners.
Indo-Japanese joint venture company Capital Cars was represented at the Summit by company secretary and legal manager Manoj Bhargav. Capital Cars' managing director CK Thampy later told ALB: "Thank you ALB for facilitating the meeting on 10 and 11 February. I understand it was very well organised and very useful. Many thanks."
Praveen Shetty, assistant manager of the legal department at Tata Chemicals Ltd, added: "Thank you very much for the wonderful opportunity given to me to attend the Legal Summit. The two-day workshop was really very useful and updating and I am sure there will be more such events in future."
Organisers Key Media can confirm that further Legal Summits are arranged this year in Hong Kong (1-2 April), Shanghai (22-23 April), Singapore (13-14 May) and Beijing (30 Nov - 1 Dec).
