Khaitan & Co won the key legal role on what is the second largest foreign corporate takeover by an Indian company.
The firm represented Suzlon Energy in its US$565m acquisition of Belgium-based Hansen, the world's second largest maker of wind turbine gearboxes.
The purchase was funded through a syndicated loan from Barclays Bank, Deutsche Bank and ICICI Bank.
Linklaters and Oppenhoff & Radler also advised Suzlon while German firm Hengeler Mueller was the legal counsel for the sellers.
