Lovells has turned to a former director and group general counsel of Hong Kong conglomerate Jardine Matheson for a new regional head of corporate. Greg Terry joined the UK firm as a partner in Hong Kong on 16 June.
Following a 10-year stint as director and group general counsel of Jardine Matheson, Terry was Credit Suisse First Boston's managing director and vice chairman of the Pacific region, as well as Australia head, in Melbourne for three years. More recently, he was CEO of Singapore-based investment company BIL International until last year, when he set up his own investment firm, Eastsound Square, in Seattle.
'The corporate and banking world has many attractions, but my professional and business grounding was in the law and it is time I returned to my intellectual home,' he said.
Terry's hire is a boost for Lovells' corporate practice in Asia, which towards the end of last year suffered the losses of Paul Supramaniam (its Singapore-based head of corporate for southeast Asia) to US firm Latham & Watkins, and Robert Lewi (a Tokyo-based M&A partner) to Australian firm Blake Dawson & Waldron in Perth.
