Former partner at Clayton Utz, Simon Irvine, has become the latest coup for rival firm Blake Dawson. Irvine has been appointed as partner in the Sydney office’s banking and finance practice.
Just last month, Middletons partner Peter Limbers also moved to the firm, bolstering its energy practice in Sydney.
Irvine has worked on a range of project financing deals for the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors in Australia, London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Since his arrival in Australia, he had lead roles on several significant projects, including the Victorian Desalination Project, where he advised the successful consortium, AquaSure’s on all debt financing and State financing support aspects of the A$3.2bn project;, advising the Queensland Government with respect to debt financing aspects of the A$4.8bn Airport Link Project and advising the RTA on refinancing of the M2 Motorway Project.
Before joining Clayton Utz, Irvine practised in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. During his time in Asia he practised extensively in the oil and gas sector and advised finance parties on the US$5bn Tangguh LNG project in Indonesia and the US$4.6bn CSPC-Nanhai Petrochemicals Project in China.
