Adrian Tan is a forceful part of Drew and Napier's award winning litigation team, and a director of the firm. With an impressive CV of action against defamatory bloggers and trademark infringers, he is also a somewhat surprising target of adulation for dozens of teenage bloggers. Author of a book called the Teenage Textbook, Tan recently gave Singaporean students a speech that was described as "truly inspiring" and which seems to have launched dozens of blog pages laced with teenage angst and introspection. To read the speech that explains love, life expectancy and the plight of Asian soccer follow this link.
Meanwhile, there’s no love lost between Drew & Napier and Rodyk & Davidson in Singapore. The High Court has ruled against a jewellery store that had trademarked the word “love”. The Carat Club, represented by Rodyk & Davidson, had previously attempted to prevent rival jeweller Love & Co from using that name. Love & Co was represented by Drew & Napier. The court ruled that The Carat Club was not entitled to monopolise the word “love” and revoked the trademark.
