Former Japanese ministry of justice official Takashi Shibuya has joined local Big Four firm Nishimura & Asahi.
Shibuya specialises in corporate and criminal law having spent two decades at the Japanese public prosecutor’s office and the MoJ. As counsel at Nishimura he will work across a number of practices, with a focus on corporate crisis management.
The appointment caps off a busy month for the firm – its capital markets practice has won a role on Japan’s largest IPO in two years – insurance company Dai-ichi’s US$18bn offering. Meanwhile, its M&A practice has just topped the Bloomberg legal league tables for M&A transactions in Japan so far this year by deal volume.
