Former Freehills senior associate Daniel Scotti will join the busy equity capital markets (ECM) practice group at Minter Ellison as partner in order to meet anticipated demand for capital raisings from clients. Scotti has experience in all forms of equity and hybrid capital raisings, including IPOs, placements, secondary offerings, rights issues and entitlement offers. Martin Bennett, head of the firm’s Sydney ECM group, said of Scotti’s appointment: “He will assist us to meet the growing demand for capital raising services from our underwriter, corporate and fund clients. Daniel has advised on some of the most important and complex equity capital market transactions that have been carried out in Australia," he said.
Recent transactions that the Minter Ellison ECM team have advised on include the QR IPO, Mirvac’s A$1bn institutional and retail capital raising and Gloucester Coal’s A$450m capital raising. The team, which operates in Australia, New Zealand, Greater China and the UK, also recently advised the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the adoption of a new chapter of its listing rules to facilitate the listing of mining companies.
Scotti is the second partner hire Minter Ellison has made in two months. On February 23 the firm announced the appointment of former Mallesons senior associate Matthew Cunningham, who joined the finance practice group.
