Omani firm Said al Shahry Law Office (SASLO) has appointed a former partner from Australian firm Blake Dawson – Andrew Kincaid – as a senior lawyer in its Muscat office.
Kincaid will advise on infrastructure and projects disputes in Oman. He returns to the Gulf region two decades after managing the Sharjah office of Clifford Chance (then Clifford Turner). In the mid’ 90s he worked in the projects practice of Blake Dawson, before moving to the Victorian Bar as a barrister practising commercial and construction law. Outside of the legal profession, Kincaid played a role as the ‘crown lands commissioner’ in the Australian TV series Outback House.
Kincaid said his decision to move to Oman underscored the country’s fast growing market for infrastructure projects (see related stories below). “Oman is not only a most attractive place, but is experiencing a surge in building and engineering construction activity. This makes Muscat a very appealing location to be based.”
SASLO has three offices in Oman and a network of associations with firms in the UAE, Greater China and Europe, including a formal alliance with Richards Butler. The firm recently worked alongside Norton Rose’s Tokyo office on a US$47.6m ship financing transaction for Oman Shipping Company SAOC.
