Shearman & Sterling has represented Viacom Asia in joint venture agreements in both Beijing and Shanghai.

The US firm acted for Viacom subsidiary MTV Asia in its formation of an advertising joint venture on 19 March with Chinese advertising company MeritSys in Beijing. Local firm Solon Law Offices advised MeritSys on PRC law matters.

Shearman also represented Viacom Asia in its formation of a children and youth television program production joint venture on 24 March with Shanghai Media Group in Shanghai. AllBright Law Offices advised SMG on PRC law matters.

Beijing managing partner Lee Edwards led the Shearmans team on both deals.
