DLA Piper’s Dubai managing partner Tony Holland will be the new chief executive of DLA Phillips Fox, the firm’s Australasian alliance partner.
Holland will take over responsibility for 735 lawyers across the eight offices in the DLA Phillips Fox network next February. He replaces outgoing CEO Tony Crawford, who leaves after a decade in the role. Holland, who also led DLA’s finance practice in the Middle East, was previously a board member and partner for 20 years at Mallesons Stephen Jacques before joining DLA.
“I know DLA Phillips Fox well, and see them as a strong player with great potential in the Asia Pacific region,” said Holland in a statement. “Tony Crawford is leaving the firm in great shape to take advantage of the many opportunities as economic conditions improve in Australia and the surrounding region. I am looking forward to working with the leadership group and the partners of the firm in the next stage of its development and growth.”
This is the second major management reshuffle for DLA – in October it appointed a new Middle East managing partner, Abdul Aziz Al-Yaqout, its former Kuwait office head. The firm is reviving its regional management after going through two rounds of redundancies and losing key alliances in Saudi Arabia. It is yet to appoint a successor for Holland.
